For this tutoring session, I was joined by Gale and Logan. What was originally going to be just an observation for them turned into a wonderful collaborative effort between all three of us. Unfortunately, Hoda did not show up for this session, but Koo and Sephora were present and eager to learn as always.
As Logan said in his blog, I brought some snacks and drinks for my tutees. I figure it's the least I can do since I am asking them to stay for essentially another class period after they've already been at school all day.
Although Sephora and Koo didn't have any homework they needed help with this time, they did need help signing up for the Build-A-Bike program run by the Bicycle House on Jackson Bluff Road. Gale and I helped Koo and Sephora work through their applications. They each took turns reading the instructions aloud while Gale and I helped them fill in the appropriate information.
We had an interesting discussion about the differences between people who ride bicycles and people who ride motorcycles. While both motorcycles and bicycles can be referred to as "bikes," people who ride bicycles are called "cyclists" while people who ride motorcycles are called "bikers." I think the only real conclusion we reached was that it was a very confusing concept.
Overall, it was a real pleasure watching how Gale, someone with years of experience in education, worked with the tutees. I definitely feel a little more knowledgable and confident going into my remaining tutoring sessions now.

Sounds like a good group tutoring session that everyone learned from.
