Group 3C Listening
CO#3
Date/Time: 10/7/14 @2:00
Location: RM 311
Topic/Skill: Focused listening
Teacher Presentation: Joshua Valentine
Classroom Management:

Josh had the agenda on the board and we worked our way through it, opening up with a question: “If you had 1 million dollars to start business, what business would you start?” This got students minds focused on the idea of starting a business.
The next thing we did was define some vocabulary that would get us ready for the main activity, we had words like “working class”, “decrepit building”, and “small operation”. The class split into pairs to figure out the definition of these terms. I helped one group figure out what “city guys” were: guys from the city. Then we came back together as a class and one person from each pair wrote their definition on the board, which Josh repeated, for everyone to understand.
Then Josh passed out a handout/worksheet with a few questions on it for a video that we would be watching called: “Rockaway Taco”. It was a very good, short, informative and cultural documentary. We watched it twice for repetition and then answered the questions in small groups.

Materials: Student books, handout/worksheet: “Rockaway Taco”
Student Participation: yes everyone participated and Josh called on everyone at least once.
Feedback Provided: yes, students handed the worksheet back in for feedback.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned:
Very good Cultural lesson plan got students to participate, repetition, entire classroom participation. Good small group, pairs activities.
