CP #4
Date: 10/5/14
Location: atomic coffee
On Sunday afternoon, I met with my
conversation partner Daree at atomic coffee. He didn’t get any coffee as per
usual because he doesn’t like putting any drug into his body including
caffeine. This is something I really admire about Daree because I could not give
up coffee for the life of me.
Originally we were going to get Thai
food on Friday night but he was fasting so we saved that meal for our next CP
session. When I asked him why he was fasting he told me that he has to fast for
one day before Eid. Then he explained to me that Eid was like the American
version of Thanksgiving, which I found amusing.
He informed me on cuisine in Kuwait and we both developed the idea of
cooking some Kuwait food one night (which I’m extremely excited about).
We then conversed about what we did
over the past week and what we hope to accomplish in the next week. Daree told
me that he went to Tampa to take an English test he really wanted to do well
on. However, he did not feel confident in how he performed on the test and was
upset about that. If he passes this test, his father will buy him a car. Luckily, there are other opportunities for him
to retake this test. Daree just might have to wait until the next test to get
his red corvette
He did not understand the world
“galaxy” and after I explained it to him we dove into a conversation about
space and time. If we were to have this conversation in a year from now, after
he acquires more vocabulary and improves on his ability to express himself, I
think our conversation about space and time could go very deep. I’m excited for the upcoming feasts we will
have in our next sessions.
