Jenna CO#2

I observed Vicky Ledbetter's level 3 listening class on Tuesday 9/16.

Vicky's class was very smart and diligent in their work. I could tell because when they opened up the class by playing a name game where they said their name and the name of someone else, I was called on multiple times, lol. After this and a review of the previous day's work they spent the majority of the period listening to and answering comprehension questions on a video about a professor talking about the I Have a Dream speech. Ms. Ledbetter let them watch the video twice through- it was actually quite long, probably about 5-10 minutes. After that they had time to finish their questions and then the answers were discussed via partner work.

As I said, the class was well behaved, although Ms. Ledbetter did raise her voice to speak over people a couple of times. I noticed that Ms. Ledbetter's speech was much faster in this class than when I observed at the Foundations level; I actually didn't notice her slowing down her speech nearly at all, but students were comprehending nonetheless. Had they been struggling, I'm positive the instructor would have adjusted.
