For my 2nd tutoring session I had two girls from Brazil. They weren't in any need of tutoring this week but they met anyways just to practice speaking with me. I just held basic conversations with them asking where they were from and what they liked and didn't like about Tallahassee. One of the girls needed the name to Amonia to clean the house because she didn't know what it was called in English. I couldn't find it immediatly but when I left I went to Publix looked up what she was talking about and sent her an email with what it was called "ammonia". They were also interested in buying tickets to the FSU game but had no clue how to do it, I also sent them an email to the link of buying student tickets to the game.

They then asked what was a good place to eat South American food. I told them of Cubano's food truck and Gorodo's. I later sent them an email about what was the best places to grab South American food in Tallahassee.

  1. If you have Internet access during your sessions (phone/laptop), it's fun to search the Internet with students -- it's good practical reading practice plus the speaking/listening that goes on during the search.
