Jenna CP#2

I met with another one of my conversation partners earlier this week on 9/1 at Atomic Coffee. He was very polite and had some nice cologne on because he seriously smelled wonderful. I digress.

I started the conversation by asking how to pronounce his name correctly, which led to me asking him questions for the majority of the hour. My partner was from Kuwait and had excellent speaking skills. We bonded over our love of Instagram (we are now following each other) and told each other a little about our favorite foods- just the usual introduction questions. Although I was leading most of our conversation, during pauses I would volunteer information about myself so our words and conversational transitions were able to flow a bit better.

As I mentioned, my partner spoke very well and was able to keep up with my speaking at a moderately fast pace loaded with slang. When he had comprehension problems, I was either asked what I meant or we paused for him to work out context clues. Even when there were misunderstandings, my partner's wrong response was still correctly phrased- just off topic, and I was able to explain what I meant better!

He mentioned he loves soccer (and gave MAD props to Manchester United), and also expressed interest in seeing an FSU game, so that might be something my partners and I can do together as a big event.

  1. My conversation partner had a similar interest in soccer and I suggested he check out one of the FSU football games as well to experience an American football game. Do you know how students secure tickets? He asked me about this, but I was honestly not certain since I am no longer a student.
