Sushila TP# 3

TP #: 3

Date: 9/8/2014

Time: 3:00pm - 4:15 pm

Location: Lichgate park

Lessons learned:
Today I tutored Roberta and Melissa again and took them to Linchgate park. We sat under a large oak tree and went over the difference between "to" and "for". This was difficult to review all the rules with them on the spot, so our next lesson I will go further in depth with them on this topic once I have more materials and practice examples for them. Even with the difficultly of reviewing all the specifics on the usage of "to" and "for" they gained a better understanding on the topic.

Melissa has a test tomorrow on speaking and writing in the past tense. Both girls are pretty familiar on how to spell the regular and irregular verbs in the past tense, yet they struggled with the pronunciation of these words. I spent the majority of our session on going over pronunciation with them and it paid off because they excelled in speaking towards the end of our lesson and felt more comfortable in knowing when to use the "t" and "id" sounds at the end of the verbs.

As a reward for their good work I took them to the labyrinth and explained to them what it was. They were very fond of the park and took many pictures. I was sad I had to cut short their experience at the park because I had to book it to my next tutoring session at the public library. Roberta and Melissa are very sweet and I really enjoy tutoring them in English.
