Conversation Partner Meeting No. 6

Andressa’s House

For my sixth and final conversation partner session, I met with Andressa as well as a few of her friends at her home. We went to the pool for a while and chatted with a lot of her friends who are all also from Brazil and studying at CIES. One of her friends is an American studying Portuguese so it was interesting hearing him speak to Andressa. She said that his Portuguese is at about the same level as their English. We sat by the pool while they played traditional Brazilian music over the speakers. I’ve started to pick up some of the words in a couple of the more popular songs. They were all leaving for Orlando the next day so we had a lot of conversation about Orlando, what there is to do there, how they different parks compare, and how Orlando compares to other cities in the United States and Florida, specifically.  Afterward, we went into the amenities room and ate pizza and played pool. At one point I was even being taught how to dance to Brazilian music by a couple of the guys. By the end of the night, we took a bike ride to Denny’s on campus and ate a bunch of food before calling it a night. It was so much fun and such an awesome experience. That group of people is so much fun to spend time with and get to know.
