For my first classroom observation I observed Ryan's listening class. He began with a quiz on vocabulary words. After the vocabulary quiz he showed videos mostly on cooking. He showed each video 3 times and asked students to write down notes. Then he asked students to partner with someone whom did not speak their native tongue. Students were asked to write down each step in preparing the meal that was presented in the video. Afterwords Ryan asked each group what a certain step was. His class was very punctual and organized. He timed everything in his class, and did not go over the time ever. The students enjoyed the class and it did help the students practice their listening skills as well as their speaking skills. I thoroughly enjoyed observing this class, it gave me a good idea on how an EFL class is taught.
