10/20 @Atomic Coffee
I'm sure by now my tutees are getting sick of Atomic Coffee but it's close, local, and convenient, so there you go. My tutoring sessions are definitely becoming more and more casual, which I like because I dig the informalities of chit-chat and coffee, but I'm trying to let them still be semi-academic so they're worthy of the phrase "tutoring." Today I actually reviewed the content of my culture class, because my tutee attended it when I presented. We just went over some vocabulary and talked more in depth about the topic (parties). We somehow deviated and talked about cultural and societal placement of women and beauty. I work in a makeup store and my tutee knows this so it's an easy topic to get distracted on, especially since we're both interested in those kinds of things. I think it's fascinating to compare and contrast beauty standards across countries.
