The last class I observed was Josh Valentines speaking class. For his class he held a simple class activity to practice students speaking and listening skills. At first he put up vocabulary words on the board for students to write down. He repeated each word it's definition and a different example sentence 3 times. Afterwords students participated in an active speaking and listening activity. The game was called 20 questions. Each student was to get up in front of the class and was given a noun, it could be a specific person, an object, an animal, or a place. Students were then asked to raise their hands and ask ONLY yes or no questions to the student standing in front of the class. The student was then to answer each question with either yes or no. Once the students guess what the word was the next student would go in front of the class. It was a short enough activity that each student got to stand in front of the classroom and answer the questions. I enjoyed Mr. Valentines class very much it was very fun and interesting.

  1. What an interesting way to get the students involved in asking questions and speaking, while not putting the person in front of the class TOO much on the spot! What level class was this?

  2. I believe it was a level 4 class. The students were very comfortable, there was a lot of laughing, and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
